How Tufdog works & Market Rules

Lühidalt

  • Pick YES or NO on an outcome. A winning contract pays $1.00; a losing one pays nothing.
  • Prices run from $0.01 to $0.99 and move as members and the market maker trade.
  • Sports markets settle on the official result. If a game is cancelled, every position is refunded.
  • Each market's own rules are under "Market rules" on that market. Where they differ from this page, the market's rules apply.

1. Contracts and prices

  • Every market is a question with listed outcomes. Each outcome trades as a YES contract and a NO contract.
  • A contract on the outcome that happens pays $1.00 at settlement. A contract on the other side pays $0.
  • Prices are in whole cents from $0.01 to $0.99. A price of $0.62 means the market currently values that outcome at about a 62% chance.
  • Your cost is price × number of contracts, and that is the most you can lose on the position.

2. Placing and cancelling orders

  • A limit order trades at your price or better; any unfilled part can rest on the order book until it fills, you cancel it, or trading ends.
  • A market order trades straight away at the best prices available, up to the worst price or amount you set; any part that cannot fill is cancelled.
  • Orders can fill in part. The money for an order is held from your balance until it fills or is cancelled.
  • You can sell contracts you hold at any time before trading ends, if there is a buyer.
  • Order size and positions per contract are limited. You will see a message if an order is over a limit.

3. Live games

  • During a game, your order waits a short delay before it reaches the order book. If the score changes in that time, the order is refused and nothing is charged.
  • Trading pauses after key moments (such as a goal) and whenever a fresh live price is not available.
  • Scores and clocks on Tufdog may lag the real game. The official result is what counts.

4. Who you trade with

You trade with other members and with a market maker operated by our platform provider, Victoi, which quotes buy and sell prices and may be on the other side of your trade. Every matched trade is fully paid for when it is made, so a winning contract always pays. See the market maker in our Terms.

5. Fees

When your order takes a price already on the order book, a fee is built into that price and shown before you confirm. There is no fee to settle, cancel or let an order expire, and a void refunds the fee. Card deposits may carry a processing fee, shown before you pay. Rates are in our Fee Schedule.

6. How markets settle

  • Sports markets settle on the official result published by the league or governing body, once the game has concluded.
  • Settlement is normally automatic once the result is available. If it is not available, settlement waits; if it never becomes available, the market is voided.
  • Winnings are added to your balance at settlement. Trading ends at the time shown on each market, and resting orders are cancelled then.

7. Cancelled, postponed and voided markets

  • If a game does not start, is cancelled or is abandoned, the market is voided and every position is refunded — what you paid, including the fee.
  • If a game is postponed, its market is suspended. If a new date is set, trading can resume. If no new date is set within seven days, the market is voided and refunded.
  • A market is also voided when its rules cannot be applied — for example when an outcome the result needs is not listed.

8. Errors and disputes

If a market is settled wrongly or a trade happens at an obviously wrong price because of a technical error, we may correct it and adjust balances, and we will tell you. To question a settlement, follow our Complaints & Dispute Resolution procedure. If you think a market settled wrongly, tell us within 7 days of the settlement by emailing support@tufdog.com with your account email, the market and why you think the result is wrong. We will review it against the market's rules and the source they name, and reply in writing. A settlement that is not disputed within 7 days is treated as accepted, except where it was wrong because of our own error or fraud, or where the law gives you longer.
